The "One Laptop Per Child" project has a great device ready to ship, but there's no Java on there. Let's think about working together to put Java on OLPC!
In all of the Callisto fan-fare the past month, I think
Mylar
has become the forgotten feature. Mylar wasn't part of Callisto, and so it wasn't included in the piles of press releases like so many of the projects. Oddly enough, however, it
did
have a point release at the end of June; and so I present the
Mylar New & Noteworthy for version 0.6.0
. For those that aren't familiar, Mylar helps focus your UI on tasks, de-emphasizing and sometimes even hiding content in various views and editors that is irrelevant to your current tasks.
As with previous Mylar releases, the new features cover core Mylar support, as well as integration with various bug databases, such as Bugzilla and JIRA. There are a
ton of new features
, including:
Editor Auto-Close
- When an editor becomes 'uninteresting', Mylar will now close it automatically to prevent editor bloat.
Task-Based Commit Sets Supported in Subclipse
- The Subversion/Eclipse plug-in, Subclipse is now supported with respect to the Mylar task-based change-set feature.
Color-Coded Daily Progress
- In the task list, Mylar can now colorize the tasks for the day based on their completion and priority.
Significant JIRA Integration Advancements
- The JIRA connector is shaping up to have several of the important features that are already available in the Bugzilla connector, including an integrated issue editor, and repository queries.
I'm pleased to say that the fruits of our two summer student's hard work are in today's Mylar 0.6.1 release. The first phase of Steffen Pingel's Trac integration is available (query integration, rich editing and offline support are next) as is Jeff Pound's duplicate detection and Error Log view integration:

Speaking of Mylar, if you have a bug platform you use, and Mylar doesn't currently support it, you should vote for it in the Mylar bugzilla database .
