The "One Laptop Per Child" project has a great device ready to ship, but there's no Java on there. Let's think about working together to put Java on OLPC!
Yet another Europa podcast is in the can. This time, it's a sit-down with Oisin Hurley of the STP project, talking about SOA tools in general, the future of the project and the importance of the Open Source community.
This really brings up an interesting point. Throughout the interview, Oisin kept alluding to the importance of open source contributions and community involvement. This was a bit of a hot topic a few months ago when Bjorn and Ward started the whole "Eclipse is Me" phenomenon. And really, without the community, "Open Source" is just "Source".
So here's the question, do you now (or do you have any interest in) contribute to an Eclipse project? Have you ever jumped into the source and tried to trace what's going on?
For all those of you wanting to get started, Oisin suggests that you find a Bugzilla entry and just try to solve it yourself. Trace the problem, get familiar with the APIs and maybe even submit a patch which fixes things. PDE makes it dead simple to test plugins, so have at it!
